Anthea Fraser Gupta is a sociolinguist with research interests in child language in a social context, World Englishes, Singapore English, and language disorder in bilingual children and in children who speak non-standard varieties of English. Educated at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and the University of York, she taught at the National University of Singapore for 21 years, then at the University of Leeds for 14 years, retiring in 2010. She moved to Australia, where she has done part-time lecturing at the University of Western Sydney and the University of Sydney.
